Fixing the Weapon System Bug for Fishing Rods and Picks

Recommended Posts

Recently, while working on a Metin server, I stumbled upon an interesting bug: it’s possible to apply weapon skins to fishing rods and picks. Although I’m not sure if this issue was documented elsewhere, I believe it’s worth addressing given its trivial nature.

Steps to Resolve the Issue

To rectify this issue, you will need to make modifications in the char_item.cpp file. Below are the details of the adjustments you need to implement.

1. Locate the Existing Code

First, search for the following section of code within char_item.cpp:

2. Add the New Conditions

Right below the existing condition, you need to add the following lines of code to handle the fishing rods and picks:

Explanation of Changes

The added conditions check the item's type. If the item is classified as a fishing rod or a pick, the system will send a message indicating that these items are not designed to have skins. This prevents any unintended behavior related to weapon appearances.

After implementing these changes, the issue of applying skins to fishing rods and picks should be resolved effectively. This adjustment not only enhances the system's integrity but also prevents confusion for players regarding item customization options.
